Unassisted Triple Play -- A Rarity

Only 15 players have turned unassisted triple plays in the history of baseball. See the list <HERE>. Three have happened in the past three years -- one each year.

Today, Eric Bruntlett, second baseman for the Philadelphia Phillies, did it in the ninth inning in New York against the Mets. See the coverage and video <HERE>.

It is rare because everything needs to be just right and the ball needs to be hit right into the defense.

It also sums up two seasons for two teams heading in very oposite directions -- Phillies up and the Mets down.
