Soulforce Equality Ride

The cross-country Soulforce Equality Ride (3 March - 30 April 2006) arrived in Utah this week. Clearly, BYU would be a target.

The purpose of Soulforce is freedom for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people from religious and political oppression through the practice of relentless nonviolent resistance.

The activists were peacefully removed by BYU security personnel on both Monday and Tuesday.

The Church states only sexual relations between husband and wife within the bonds of marriage are acceptable before the Lord. Any alternatives to the legal and loving marriage between a man and a woman are helping to unravel the fabric of human society..

Same-sex attraction is real for some. Leaders and parents are sympathetic to this problem. Everyone has personal weaknesses and difficult temptations to overcome. However, don't expect the Lord and his Church to change to accommodate these exceptions.

The position will always be the same: hate the sin, love the sinner.
